Development
We are a small, NDIS registered business with a passion for supporting adults with complex swallowing and communication needs. Scaling down to a smaller sized practice has enabled us greater flexibility and the opportunity to build upon our strong reputation for quality, person-centered speech pathology service delivery that considers each person we support, as well as their families, carers, and greater support networks.
Our Team
Carrie Hudson
Owner / Senior Speech and Language Pathologist
Carrie Hudson is a speech pathologist with close to twenty years of experience providing supports to adults with social communication and swallowing difficulties.
Carrie commenced her career within the public service, specifically Disability Services where she gained a wealth of knowledge and practical application of best practice in supporting adults with a disability, their families and carers. In 2014, Carrie opened her own private practice on Brisbane’s southside which provided speech pathology services across the lifespan, managing a large team of therapists in the provision of quality and evidence based practice.
Bloom Therapy has been a staple on Brisbane’s allied health scene for more than a decade and at the end of 2024, Carrie made the decision to close the paediatric arm of the clinic and shift her focus on providing speech therapy supports to adults with social communication and swallowing difficulties, the areas of speech pathology practice she is most passionate about.
Carrie works closely with a small team of Allied Health Assistant’s (AHA’s) who are on hand to provide complimentary therapy services to clients and their families/carers who require support and encouragement to implement functional communication strategies in their daily lives.
Carrie is available to provide swallowing assessment, review and mealtime management plan development, and provides training in mealtime support upon request.
In addition to providing mealtime support services, Carrie has a strong interest in supporting adults with social communication needs. This area of speech pathology is strongly linked with quality of life, independence and functional skills development. Bloom’s Allied Health Assistants have extensive experience in supporting adults with social communication goals to implement strategies in their day to day lives at home, their workplace, or within the community.
Carrie is a certified practicing member of Speech Pathology Australia (SPA).

In her spare time, Trudi loves cooking, photography and spending quality time with her two gorgeous kids, family, friends and puppy
Holly Jones
Allied Health Assistant (AHA)
Holly has been a member of the Bloom Team for several years now and three years ago commenced her role as Allied Health Assistant when she first enrolled in her Occupational Therapy degree at Griffith University.
Holly is a dynamic AHA and ‘OT in the making’. Hugely popular with her clients, Holly is warm, welcoming, and creative. Holly’s sessions are usually spent out and about in the community with her clients where, through her gentle guidance and encouragement, she supports them to put their therapy goals into practice.
Holly has seen first-hand the incredible opportunities for development that can occur when adults with social communication difficulties are able to step outside of the therapy room and into the community to use the skills they have learned in real life situations.
Whether she is assisting them to build communication skill independence through providing on hand support at a clients’ workplace, school, day program, recreational activity, sports team, volunteering opportunity, or even at home with their family, Holly is there to guide her clients and assist their communication partners to achieve their therapy goals in a natural and functional way.
When not at work Holly can be found with her head in the books studying and when not studying she enjoys being outdoors and spending time with her family
