Speech & Language Pathology

Communication is how we share ourselves with others and interact with the world around us. Communication affects how we learn, how we build relationships, and how we express ourselves.  Communication difficulties can arise at any stage across the lifespan.  Our ability to communicate begins at birth and continues to develop as we mature and grow. Specific areas we help both children and adults with include:

  • Speech sound delay and disorders
  • Receptive Language difficulties
  • Expressive Language difficulties
  • Stuttering
  • Literacy
  • Social Skills
  • Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC)
  • Autism
  • Disability and/or developmental syndromes (including Down syndrome, Cerebral Palsy etc)

As with communication, safe swallowing is a skill that develops and can change throughout our lifespan.  Dysphagia is the inability to swallow in a safe, effective, and timely manner. The impacts of a swallowing disorder are detrimental not only to our physical health, but often our emotional wellbeing.

At Bloom we work with individuals of all ages and backgrounds.  Our aim is to empower our clients with the knowledge and skills they need to understand and manage their communication and/or swallowing difficulties.
