Our Social Problem Solvers (SPS) group is children in grades one and two who have a basic foundation of social skills but need support in solving more complex social situations and navigating their emotional responses.
Our social problem solvers will put their skills to work solving the following types of problems:
- Learning and understanding hidden rules – those rules that you are not explicitly taught and you have to use social knowledge to learn
- Expected versus unexpected behaviours in a variety of social settings
- Making smart guesses and having a go
- Flexible versus ‘stuck’ thinking
- Determining the size of a problem and how to feel and react appropriately
- Sharing imagination with peers
