Pathfinders is a group therapy program for individuals who are seeking to explore their future interests and possible employment options. This group supports participants to understand and develop their individual skill set and interests. Our speech pathologists use a range of visual tools and alternate communication methods to teach these skills.
The group therapy approach allows therapists to model and teach social communication skills in functional settings. Participants are supported by our therapists to set goals, explore and learn about community programs and develop skills including increasing independence in the community. This includes accessing public transport as well as time and money management.
Who should sign up for Pathfinders?
We welcome individuals of all skill levels to join Pathfinders. The benefit of having trained speech pathologists running the group means that we are well equipped to support people with a variety of communication difficulties or differences. Pathfinders is suited to those individuals who are seeking to broaden their interests and skills, with the aim to enhance their opportunities in the community. Part of the Pathfinders program is accessing the local community. Please note that individuals requiring support with mobility or who have complex behavioural needs will need a support person to be present.
