Connect * Create * Celebrate (CCC) is a group therapy program for adults with communication difficulties or differences who are keen to build confidence and skill using iPad apps for planning and interacting.
The program is centred around planning for an ‘end of block’ celebration. Participants will work together to plan all aspects of the celebration including:
- Deciding on a theme, a guest list, and creating invitations
- Purchasing decorations (community access visits scheduled during the program)
- Welcoming guests and showcasing skills and work from the program
The goal of CCC is to encourage and practice social communication and participation through focus on the following skills:
- General social skills (eye-contact, conversation initiation, turn-taking)
- planning, organising, problem solving and completing procedural tasks
- functional literacy skills (including AAC)
- social communication, teamwork and friendship
- Integration of iPad into daily routines to enhance understanding and use of social communication
Who should sign up for CCC?
We welcome individuals of all skill levels to join CCC. The benefit of having trained speech pathologists running the group means that we are well equipped to support people with a variety of communication difficulties or differences. Part of the CCC program is accessing the local community. Please note that individuals requiring support with mobility or who have complex behavioural needs will need a support person to be present.
