Many people don’t realise that speech pathologists are trained in supporting people with communication and swallowing difficulties across the entire lifespan! The opportunity to work within such a diverse profession is what inspired me to become a speech pathologist. No two clients are ever the same which allows me to challenge myself and get creative – I just love a challenge!
I am passionate about supporting individuals with complex communication needs. I have worked in the Disability and Aged Care sectors for many years and have a special interest in the areas of ASD, developmental disability, stroke, traumatic brain injury, dysphagia (swallowing disorders), and dementia. I receive so much joy and satisfaction from working alongside individuals and their families/carers whose dedication and commitment to therapy just inspires me.
Starting Bloom in 2014 was the next step in my journey after having worked in the public sector for many years where I was provided amazing opportunities to develop both personally and professionally. Speech Pathology is a broad and ever changing field. New research is constantly coming out on best practices in the field and my goal is to grow Bloom into a team of amazing individuals with varied interests and areas of expertise, working together to support and encourage our clients throughout the lifespan.
Being a relatively ‘young’ business, Bloom takes up the majority of my time these days. When I am lucky enough to get some spare time, I enjoy yoga, catch up’s with friends, a good book, and more recently, cooking!
Friends, family, good food, yoga, live music, and my dogs!
